Career Labs

Over 10 weeks, teach students a new skill related to your industry. Student teams will apply this skill in a case study that culminates in a capstone presentation.

Throughout the process, employees participate in multiple skills-based volunteering opportunities, including mentoring, scoping work plans and milestones for junior-level employees, and providing live and written feedback.

Career Days

Spend a day with next-generation leaders. Career Days invite students to learn about your organization and explore career pathways in a 2- to 4-hour format.

The day begins with an introduction and an office tour, followed by a professional development session for the students (led by Prelude), and a moderated employee panel discussion. Prelude hosts training sessions with participating employees before the Career Day to set you up for success.

Frequently asked questions

  • Every Career Day and Career Lab is different, but we expect a minimum of 15 students to participate. Our model is flexible; we’ll work with you to find the right size for your company.

  • Prelude’s Career Day and Career Lab experiences are designed for high school students (~15–18 years old) who are actively exploring their career opportunities after graduation.

  • Career Days typically require about 10 hours of work for the employer, including planning and day-of responsibilities. Career Labs typically require 20–30 hours of work, distributed over the full ten weeks.

  • Prelude works directly with schools to coordinate schedules and transportation for Career Days and Career Labs.

  • Career Days and Career Labs provide employees with opportunities to strengthen their professional skills, including designing case studies for junior employees and effectively communicating industry-specific/technical concepts to students.
